 06-28-2013--Vicksburg Fire Department Capt. Shane Quimby carries Ainsley Johnston to a waiting ambulance as her mother, Penny Johnston, runs behind. Three-year-old Ainsley had just been pulled from the Vicksburg Country Club swimming pool and resuscitated by 19-year-old lifeguard Blake Hughey. "I was just on the stand and the little girl was in front of me and she seized up or got some water in her lungs," said Hughey. "We got her out and I noticed she wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse." Hughey administered CPR for about two minutes before Ainsley was resuscitated. "It felt like forever," he said. "Then she started coughing up water." Shane Quimby, a Vicksburg Fire Department captain and emergency medical technician, responded to the call to the country club off Indiana Avenue. "That young man was absolutely fantastic. He’s the hero," Quimby said of Hughey.

 5-2-2010--Glenda Perron frantically pulls at a broken oil boom found washed up under the CSX bridge in Bay St. Louis Sunday, May 2. These booms were intended to protect the bay, where Perron resides, from oil leaking from BP's oil rig off Louisiana's coast.

 1-27-2012--Christopher Harden, 14, physically concentrates to come up with the answer during the citywide Math Counts competition at the Vicksburg District office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Christopher, an eighth-grader at Vicksburg Junior High, and students from Warren Central Junior High and Vicksburg Catholic School were competing to move into the regional competition of the Society of American Military Engineers Math Counts program.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves the breathing of pure oxygen while in a sealed chamber that has been pressurized at 1-1/2 to 3 times normal atmospheric pressure.
